Description
LOT. 715 FRENCH NAVY MECHANIC JACKET
A 1950s jacket belonging to a worker at Chantier Naval, the French naval shipyard, is redesigned with T.T's original denim. The wearer was likely a maintenance worker engaging in sandblast and other tasks. The French military uniform lineup has several similar jackets, but this particular type stands out with pockets on both sides of the body and a collar that can be worn upright.
The armholes of the original jacket are quite tight and sleeves are steeply angled toward the front, so we adjusted the design to suit daily use. While the design, originally made from ink-blue cotton twill fabric, is not the revival of an actual design in the past, the French design exudes the atmosphere of American workwear.
The buttons marked with original engravings are all made of iron, which is uncoated to produce aged beauty over time. The signature leather patch is mud- dyed in Amami Oshima Island.
